First Orthopedic Surgeries Performed at Gökçeada State Hospital

Gökçeada (Imbros) State Hospital has reached a significant milestone in healthcare services. Orthopedic cases that previously required referral to mainland hospitals can now be treated by specialists on the island.

Two Critical Surgeries Successfully Completed

Two patients who applied to the hospital with different orthopedic issues used to be referred to city centers. This time, both patients were successfully treated on the island:

• Left Forearm Comminuted Fracture Surgery: A complex comminuted fracture requiring specialized intervention was treated with a meticulous operation.
• Hallux Valgus (Bunion) Surgery: A patient with a big toe deformity was treated using modern surgical techniques.

Expert Team

The surgeries were successfully performed under the leadership of Hospital Chief Physician Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Op. Dr. Emre ARIKAN and Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist Dr. Celal Gürbüz ÖNEL, along with the surgical team. Both patients were taken to the ward after the operations, and it was reported that their general condition is good and their recovery is being closely monitored.
