Metropolitan Kirillos Sykis and Greek School Directors Visit Çanakkale Governor Toraman
Metropolitan Kirillos Sykis of Gökçeada (Imbros) and Bozcaada (Tenedos), along with Niko Lemopulo, Principal of the Gökçeada Private Greek High School, and Yorgo Özprodomos, Director of the Private Gökçeada Greek Primary School, visited Çanakkale Governor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Toraman at his office.
The meeting addressed the status of minority schools on Gökçeada and Bozcaada, educational activities, and the expectations of the Greek community in the region. Governor Toraman expressed his pleasure at the visit and reaffirmed continued support for educational institutions.
The Gökçeada Private Greek High School, one of Turkey's few active Greek minority schools, holds an important place in the island's cultural and educational heritage. Each year, it educates students from Gökçeada, Istanbul, and various other regions.
During the visit, discussions also covered the preservation of cultural heritage on Gökçeada and Bozcaada, the tourism potential of both islands, and the needs of the local community.
