April 23 Celebrations in Gökçeada: Square and Amphitheater Overflow with Joy

Gökçeada celebrated April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day this year with a more crowded and enthusiastic program than ever. The celebrations, bringing together District Governor Osman Acar, local officials, school administrators, teachers, and many citizens, bathed the island in a colorful festive atmosphere.

Celebrations Stretching from the Square to the Amphitheater

The ceremony began with an official opening at Cumhuriyet Square and then continued at the Gökçeada Amphitheater. The amphitheater was packed with participating citizens and families, while students from every corner of the island took their places on stage.

Performances prepared by schools in the district, especially Cumhuriyet Primary School, drew great interest. The students brought to the stage:

Taking the floor at the event, District Governor Osman Acar emphasized the historical significance of April 23. Recalling the words "Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation", he stated that he commemorated Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who founded the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and his comrades with mercy, gratitude, and respect.

Governor Acar also delivered an important message about Gökçeada's future in his speech:

"Our most fundamental duty is to raise our children, who are the future of our country and nation, as the most equipped and capable individuals to whom we can entrust our independence and future. By acting together in unity and solidarity in our Gökçeada, we will continue to advance our island in every field."
