Critical Preparatory Meeting for Summer Tourism in Gökçeada

With the summer tourism season just around the corner in Gökçeada (Imbros), a comprehensive evaluation meeting was held to prepare the district for a safe, peaceful, and high-quality season. Chaired by District Governor Osman Acar, the meeting focused on the island's beaches and sports tourism facilities.

Institutional Representatives Come Together

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Coast Guard Command, District Gendarmerie Command, District Police Department, Gökçeada Municipality, Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the National Real Estate Office. With such broad participation, the current status of tourism businesses operating in the district was thoroughly evaluated.

The main topics on the agenda were:

• Preparing beaches and swimming areas for the season
• Inspecting tourism businesses for compliance with legal regulations
• Strengthening inter-institutional coordination and communication mechanisms
• Planning security measures to be taken before the season

Taking the floor at the meeting, District Governor Osman Acar emphasized that they would work in harmony with all stakeholders throughout the summer, highlighting the importance of tourism businesses providing compliant and quality services for both locals and visitors.

Governor Acar stated:

"During the summer months, we will take all necessary measures to ensure that our tourism businesses operating in the district provide more orderly, regular, and quality services in accordance with laws and regulations. We aim to increase our tourism potential while preserving our island's natural structure, peace, and social sensitivities. Without victimizing anyone, we will prepare our beaches and swimming areas for the season in the best possible way through common sense and cooperation."

A Safe Season Aimed for Visitors

The meeting concluded with a decision to take concrete steps to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation. It was stated that efforts would continue resolutely to ensure that Gökçeada, which hosts thousands of domestic and international visitors every year, enters the season with the same calm and safety approach.

On the island, which holds the Cittaslow title and stands out with its natural beauty, the local population also welcomes this coordinated preparation process. Keeping beaches tidy, inspecting businesses, and planning security measures in advance will significantly contribute to a more enjoyable season for both residents and vacationers.
